How To Dress Like A Pretty Little Liar...

Pretty Little Liars not only has cute boys, a creepy stalker and a mysterious story line - it is also full of amazing fashion. All four girls have their own unique style from sporty to edgy, preppy to chic. You have to wonder, how can these girls have an alleged 'stalker' after them and they still have time to look fabulous even when they are going to bed? (The answer to this question is a make-up artist and a little TV magic, but we'll just pretend they are that perfect.) If you're like me, Emily, Spencer, Aria and Hannah are constantly inspiring my own personal style and I really enjoy watching how they put outfits together. Anyone can re-create the liars style from their own personal closet. Here are some tips on how you can dress to impress just like the four friends, without spending a dollar.

  Emily Fields

Emily Fields is the sporty one of the group. Her style mostly consists of jean jackets, tank tops, coloured pants and rocky band shirts. For this look I wore maroon skinny jeans, a black tank top and an acid wash jean jacket. I paired this with black combat boots. You see her wearing a lot of converse running shoes and boots. Emily is very tom-boyish so she usually wears minimal eye make-up - usually just a light brown eye shadow, a bit of eyeliner and some mascara. Top it with a bit of blush on the apples of the cheek and a neutral coloured lipstick and she's ready to go to the pool. She's a swimmer so her hair is mostly down in natural waves - for my look I did the half up half down look and just let my hair go natural. As for jewellery, Emily usually doesn't wear much. She will wear a long chain or a dog-tag necklace just to add a little flavour to her outfit. I love Emily's look because it's comfortable and simple yet still stylish and modern.

Spencer Hastings
Spencer Hastings is the smart one of the group and she definitely shows this through the way she dresses. She is always done up very classy and professional looking and looks as if she's always ready to make a serious business deal with 'A' at any moment. Spencer's style consists of a lot of vintage clothing - collared shirts, blazers, blouses and cardigans are most likely in her closet. For my outfit I wore a collared shirt with gold buttons down the middle, jeans that are rolled up passed the ankles and brown oxford type shoes. Spencer usually has her hair naturally down or in a headband, which I did here, or she has her hair up in a pony tail for when she's having a crazy study session. Her make-up is not far from Emily's, which is quite natural looking, mostly browns. She never usually wears anything heavy on the lip, just a neutral or pinky colour, or even a clear lipgloss. As for jewellery, a must for Miss Spencer is a watch, so she always knows the time. Again, like Emily, she doesn't go too over the top on the jewellery, she keeps it quite simple. Spencer's style is always smart and trendy. She takes the "strict uniform" look and turns it into something sleek and upscale.

 Aria Montgomery
The only way to describe Aria Montgomery's style is fun and edgy. She tends to layer A LOT, and she wears things that are very bohemian and indie. Aria is not afraid to throw different patterns and colours together that wouldn't necessarily go together, but she always pulls them off amazingly. For my outfit, I wore a cat faced dress from Top Shop, with black knee socks and black studded ankle boot heels. Aria's make-up is a little edgier - with a dark smokey eye and heavy contouring. For hair, she has basically done anything and everything whether it's up in a high pony tail or down in loose curls. I put my hair up in a high bun, leaving some pieces down to frame my face, and finished it with a black bandana. For jewellery, Aria wears quite 'out there' pieces such as a spider necklace or crazy feather earrings. I wore a bunch or silver bangles, big rings and brown circle-shaped earrings. Aria's fashion sense may seem crazy and over-the-top to some people, but if you have the confidence, you can rock this cool style just like her.

Hannah Marin
Hannah Marin's style is very girly, classy and dressy. She wears a lot of lace, ruffles and printed dresses. Coloured blazers are quite popular with her style. For my outfit I paired a cream lace dress with a teal blue blazer and blue heels. You'll always see Hannah wearing some type of pump, heel or high boot. Chunky jewellery, such as big necklaces, rings and hoop earrings are Hannah's ultimate go-to accessory. I accessorized with a long chain cross necklace, hoop earrings (which you can't see) a jewelled bracelet and some knuckle rings. Hannah usually wears her hair down and curled most of the time. She will sometimes wear her hair up in a messy but cute pony tail if she's having a hard day. As for make-up, I would say Miss Marin is the girl who wears the most out of all of the liars. She usually goes for lots of eye make-up to give her blue eyes a nice pop. Hannah also tends to wear a lot of black eye liner in which I don't usually go for but with her eyes, she can definitely pull it off.

What's In For Spring... (Part two)

Yesterday I talked about the trends in fashion that will become popular this spring, and today the second part of my "What's In For Spring" segment is all about accessories. I will be talking about make-up, hairstyles and other trends that will take over the fashion world this spring. Let's begin...

Dark/Plum Lipstick

Dark lipstick, or more specifically "plum" is becoming a very bold but popular choice among young stars in hollywood. This dark or 'goth' theme was actually very popular at the 2014 Grammys with Katy Perry's witch themed performance of "Dark Horse" and Lorde's gothic look. Many won't push their fashion boundaries with this gloomy trend, but to those who aren't confident enough to do it, yet want to try a different, edgy look - plum lipstick is for you. Both Shay Mitchell (left) and Selena Gomez (right) wore a similar beautiful shade that creates a bit of a mysterious look. Shay and Selena both wear the colour amazing with their tan complexions, dark eyes and chestnut brown hair.

Brightly Colour Hair

Dying your hair anything crazy is becoming a norm in the fashion world. Compared to a few years ago, seeing someone with bright pink or red hair is not a shock at all. Blue is the next brown and purple is the next blonde. I personally love this trend and even dyed my hair bright red a year ago. I had it for a few months but considering I have naturally dark brown hair I had to bleach it to get that firetruck red colour and after a few washes, the colour would start to wash out. I decided that it was too much work to have to go to the salon every month, and I was also worried about ruining my hair. (I do miss it a lot now.) I do think this trend will become more popular this spring though. We see that from Gemma Styles (left), Kelly Osbourne (middle) and Demi Lovato (right) pastel colours are the next big thing for hair. All three of these girls pull off these colours stunningly and show off their fun and playful side.

Matte Nail Polish

Matte black nail polish became very 'in' this past year, but most recently the different techniques using matte have started to trend. People aren't just wearing matte black, they are now "mattifying" (yes I made that word up) any colour nail polish from pastel pink (left) to teal blue. I have most recently been putting a matte coat over the fourth finger so I can mix it up between shiny and matte. Another trend starting is to put a matte coat over the entire nail, and then use a shiny top coat to create a french manicure type of look (right).

Spring Colour Alert: Aqua

Aqua, or as many like to call it "tiffany blue", is a perfect colour for spring time. It's bright, fresh and gives a little 'pop' to any outfit. Wearing a simple outfit and adding aqua accents could give your look that tiny bit of excitement it needs. You'll be sure to 'wow' everyone when you walk into the room. Wearing pinstriped black and white shorts with a white blouse is smart and classy on its own but adding that aqua blazer turns your look from plain jane to unique and original. (left) Aqua nail polish (right) is perfect for spring when you start to get a little colour from the sun. The bright colour against tanned skin looks amazing, and might even enhance your skin tone that extra little bit.

Thick Eyebrows

Thick eyebrows is the best fashion statement your face can make. Messy and thick is the trend that you are starting to see more and more on stars, especially younger ones. Both Cara Delevingne (left) and Lilly Collins (right) are known for their signature bold and "unkept" eyebrows. With spring coming and the weather getting warmer, I think the perfect accessory for a new and fresh look is to get a little edgy and rough up those brows. As you can see with both of these ladies, it pairs beautifully with a striking red lip and gives you a high-class chic look to make you runway ready.

Short Hair/Bobs

This past year, everyone had long hair. If someone had short hair, they put extensions in so they could have long hair. Thick waves or pin straight hair were all you saw on us girls! Just recently, we seem to see that the style has changed to short bobs. Everyone is cutting their hair short. Whether it's to have a fresh start or because they can't stand their long hair anymore, short hair is taking over. For spring, this trend is definitely a favourite of mine. Although, I don't think I would have the guts to cut mine short, I would cry too much and miss my long hair. Recently, when my mom was watching Inside Edition, which she watches every night, I saw Deborah Norville (left) and her new short hair do. I think it looks fabulous on her and frames her face perfectly. Emma Roberts (right) made the change as well. She looks stylish and chic and I absolutely love it!
